West Ham United got unpleasant news after striker Marko Arnautovic confirmed he wanted to leave The Hammers to play in the Champions League.
The Austrian joined West Ham in a £ 25 million deal from Stoke City in 2017. Manchester United were interested in signing him last summer.
But West Ham set a price of 50 million pounds for the 29-year-old player and the Red Devils don’t want to pay that much money.
Arnautovic is worried that his golden era will soon run out and according to him now is the right time to join the Champions League club.
“I am 29 years old, so this is my best age,” Arnautovic told the Austrian newspaper, Courier.
“Obviously I want to compete with the best players. But in this matter I really trust my brother, “he added.
Mourinho needs a new attacker
Jose Mourinho was interested in bringing in another striker to cover Romelu Lukaku. The poor performance of the Belgian so far this season, further strengthens The Special One’s desire to bring in a new striker.
Danijel who became Arnautovic’s agent confirmed that his brother had been very close to being able to move to a club that competed in the Champions League last summer.
“He has played in the Premier League and it’s the place where the best players are. But for players like Marko, that can’t be the end, “said Danijel Arnautovic.
“He’s a big part of the West Ham team, but I think maybe he needs something more challenging. Therefore he must play for the top team. Marko is ready to take the next step. Players like him should not play to avoid relegation. He must play to achieve international achievements. ”
“Marko really enjoyed playing time for West Ham. He loves the club and his fans. But there was still a feeling that this could not be the end for him. And everyone must understand that, “he concluded.
